On June 29, SIAN [«Stop Islamization of Norway»] was met by a broad antifascist counter-demonstration in Trondheim.
The Struggle Committee writes the following:
On June 29, the SIAN circus had a stop in Trondheim. A handful of SIANists traveled from Østlandet to Trondheim and were met by both rain and a broad demonstration against racism and Islamophobia.
The demonstrators also showed great vigor, and the Struggle Committee reports that:
As soon as SIAN set up their sound equipment, the slogans began. «No Nazis in our streets», «Antifascism is self-defense», «The struggle continues, fascism will be smashed», and «go home SIAN» were shouted in rhythm all the way until SIAN packed its things down for the day. Even the weather was against the fascists, and very few people went out of their way to hear the anti-Muslim message.
The Struggle Committee continues to write:
Antifascists shouted «All of Trondheim hates SIAN». At the beginning of the demonstration, a plainclothes officer came and told the early-arriving group of fascists to move roughly 50 meters behind the fascists. When the fascists’ speech was well underway, a group of youth took the initiative to move closer to the fascists and to position themselves in front of them. The entire demonstration committed themselves to this action. In this way, the fascists were completely drowned out for most of the demonstration.
