Mass Meeting and Action in Copenhagen on the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising
On June 28, 2019, revolutionary activists in Copenhagen hosted an open mass meeting for the observance of 50 years since the Stonewall Uprising, which kickstarted the queer movement. Here, there were speeches about the Stonewall Uprising itself and its historical background and meaning, with a focus on the masses’ violence uprising, and on the need for a class conscious queer movement.
Several masses met up for the event, where there was sold food and revolutionary literature. Important questions on queer peoples’ opportunities for organizing for the socialist revolution were discussed, where different right-oriented positions were struggle against. The activists also revealed an excellent banner with the parole: «For a class-line in the queer movement!»
Additionally, we have received a report that a banner-drop action was undertaken in a proletarian neighborhood of Copenhagen on the morning of June 29, in the same observance of 50 years since the Stonewall Uprising. We share an image of the banner drop below.
