Saturday, August 22, the fascists from SIAN came to Bergen. They were met by a sea of resistance, which eventually escalated into several dozen demonstrators crossing police lines.
The demonstration began at 13:00. A broad group of diverse antifascists had been mobilized beforehand. Several banners and red flags could be seen. The fascists were barely able to hold their demonstration for 45 minutes, by which time the people had had enough.
Several dozen demonstrators jumped over the police barriers and stormed towards SIAN, unleashing chaos. During the heroic actions of the masses, SIAN leader Lars Thorsen was beaten several times, according to Bergens Tidende. He is also reported to have been laying on the ground for several minutes before being escorted away by police.
Anna Bråten from SIAN cried for the police to shoot at the demonstrators several times. There can now be no doubt that they are reactionaries of the worst kind.
Shots were not fired, but the police were quick to use what appeared to be tear gas against the demonstrators, including several children. The police did the same during the demonstration against SIAN in Furuset, Oslo on August 15.
After SIAN was forced to cancel their event, the masses directed their anger towards the police. Demonstrators threw eggs and other objects at the police and quickly encircled a police car. The police then threatened to use tear gas.
Nonetheless, the police were eventually forced to flee from the area, causing the masses of people present to applaud and celebrate. SIAN has been defeated yet again, and the police were forced to evacuate yet again.
