NRK reports that the US is stepping up its military activity in the Northern regions. Yankee-imperialist bomber planes, including the B-1B Lancer, recently flew exercise runs over Norwegian and Swedish airspace, with support from both the Norwegian and Swedish air defense forces.
The increased activity must be seen in the context of the sharpened political crisis in the US, which alongside anarchy in the White House, has been under enormous pressure in the last few months, partially as a result of the global economic depression, and partially as a result of mass protests that have rocked the US in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd.
Earlier this month, US secretary of defense Mark Ester provoked Trump after official statements were made indicating that it would be politically unwise to deploy the army to put down popular riots in the US, as Trump has suggested.
This occurs while the economic and political rivalry between Yankee-imperialism and NATO on one side and Russian and Chinese imperialism on the other have been considerably escalated in recent months.
Supporters of Chinese imperialism describe the situation as a “cold era”, which they claim will only become “much colder before any thawing will happen”. This is an appropriate image of the imperialist rulers’ genuine perspective of geopolitical fragility.
Just a few days ago, bourgeois media in the US reported that two aircraft carriers have been stationed in the South China Sea.
Yankee-imperialist propaganda portrays this increased military activity as “protection for all countries’ international rights”. These are of course purely reactionary empty words. The military activity clearly does not have anything to do with “protecting all countries’ international rights”, but rather demonstrating for the world’s states and nations that it is Yankee-imperialism that decides what “international rights” are in the first place.
The escalation was of course warmly received by the Norwegian imperialist state. Minister of Defense Frank Bakke-Jensen tells NRK that the increased activity in the Northern regions is a “desirable rotation”. Jonas Gahr Støre is somewhat more reserved, but not enough that he wouldn’t stipulate that the Norwegian state itself shouldn’t participate in the escalation.
This indicates that in the near future, we should expect to see significantly more imperialist bomber planes in the Northern regions.
